I’m Danielle and I’m obsessed with food, from trying new foods in my travels to recreating memories from the past in my own kitchen. Cooking, eating, and travel with the people I love is what I live for. I’m Aussie-American, born in Australia to an Aussie dad and American mom. We lived in Papua New Guinea where my parents were missionaries for seven years. There I developed my fondness for coconut rice and fresh, tropical fruits like papaya, passionfruit, and mangos.
From the tropics we headed to the cold North closer to my mom’s side of the family in Wisconsin. I learned to love typical Midwestern American foods like great cheese, pies, burgers and casseroles. Then after college I moved to Nanjing, China, for work. I enjoyed the variety of cuisines in the Middle Kingdom, from spicy Sichuanese dishes to Beijing roast duck, from traditional banquets to street food vendors.
China is where I met my Floridian husband and we now live in Nashville, TN, with our rescue dog Lily (see below!). The three of us continue to explore the world and experience new flavors. The places I’ve lived, the places I’ve traveled and the people I’ve met along the way are forever imprinted in my mind and the best way for me to relive those fond memories is through food. I’m excited to share a bit of my world with you.
